ARTIST SPOTLIGHT - TDS Project

Name:TDS Project
Occupation: Collaboration of Jeong Beom Gook and Jeong Beom Min

Current Location: Seoul, Korea
Website: www.tdsproject.com

In capitalistic society, art has become just another part of industry and is a commodity that can be purchased.  Art has also been systemized as an educational subject.  How does this affect artists who have grown up in this public art education system?  Artists have tried to make art that is isolated from ordinary people, but it is also an artist’s job to sell their works and artists have used all possible means to accomplish this.  They break rules and social and sexual taboos as part of their job as an artist, but because of this stereotype, there are misunderstanding that can occur.  The public has come to see art as a complicated thing, when it is really nothing special at all.  Capitalism has affected everything, and nowadays everyone just wants to be a star.  Artists are also affected by this and many try to promote and tailor their image to fit this mold.  They will do anything to get noticed.

This is the reality and basis on which the TDS project was founded.  The TDS project seeks to communicate their messages to society in their own unique way.  We strive to communicate in the public sphere, not just the museum.
