CHOI MIN WHA
This exhibition presents a retrospective of Korean artist, Choi Min Wha, who was an active political artist in the 1980’s. His work depicts the turmoil and conflict of Korean society at that time and shows images of violent protests and battles between the common people and institutional forces. As opposed to high art that was destined to hang in an exclusive gallery, Choi was part of a movement to make art that was rooted in the reality of the times. His work was actually used during protests and demonstrations in the form of large scale banners and posters.
